Solarpunk is optimistic science fiction based on renewable energies.
It’s utopian not dystopian, an imagined future we’d actually like.
It’s hopepunk not grimdark, featuring bright and hopeful futures.
It’s climate fiction, where we start to get things right.
For me, it features nonbinary, feminist, connected communities.
It takes place on Earth with green spaces and animals.
Small press books, self-published works, and anthologies are really solarpunk.
Here are some of the books on my shelf:
Glass and Gardens: Solarpunk Summers
Glass and Gardens: Solarpunk Winters
Wings of Renewal: A Solarpunk Dragon Anthology
Sunvault: Stories of Solarpunk and Eco-Speculations
Solarpunk: Ecological and Fantastical Stories in a Sustainable World
Multi-Species Cities: Solarpunk Urban Futures
I also recommend checking out Alan Marshall’s project Ecotopia2121 and the beautiful book which features green utopias.
